Org'/School | To whom it may concern, I have been involved with Matt Trainor, as the Cronulla State League Head Coach throughout the 2023-24 season and his coach for NSW CHS/ All Schools team. Over these years I have seen his growth as a player through his determination and work ethic. He has established himself as a reliable and committed young man. His hard work, dedication and desire to achieve his best, at all times, have made him an important asset and respected member of all teams he is involved with. His consistent efforts has played a large part in the success of the Cronulla club, in particular he played a significant part of the Under 18 team making the Grand Final. Matt also played in the First Grade State League team throughout the year. He was an asset both as a player and as a team member, always making a proactive contribution in all programs. Matt has displayed exemplary behaviour, leadership and sportsmanship. Matt was a key member of the Cronulla Senior League team that dominated the state Championships and he led the team to a semi final berth at nationals. Through Matt’s commitment to the sport he was recognised under the Australian Sports Commission as an elite athlete to represent the ACT Team in 2024 and the NSW team in 2025 at the Under 18 National Championships. Matt was the Tournament MVP in 2025 for hitting .500 with 8 RBI and 6BB and pitching 4.0 innings of scoreless ball. Along with that he was selected in the NSW CHS and All Schools team, where he was a major contributor in the success in all of those teams. Matt is a versatile player with his main position as an Outfielder, however, he can play 1B and pitches with success commanding 3 pitches. It is hitting where he fully shines with excellent hand eye coordination and the ability to take quality at bats and come up with clutch hits on a regular basis. Matt always plays the game with enthusiasm, integrity and a competitiveness to win, which has gained him the respect of all who play or coach with or against him. If you have any further questions regarding Matt, please feel free to contact me using the contact details below. Regards Shaun Smith. |
